Q: What kind of RV’s does Mobile Loaves & Fishes accept?
They accept all types of RVs, bumper pulls, 5th wheels, goose necks, and motor homes. If you wish to donate your RV, please send a brief description including year, make, model, length, number of slide-outs, and condition. Please include both interior and exterior photos. They will review the information and get back to you as soon as possible.
Q: Can I receive a donation credit for the appraised value of the RV?
Always check with your tax advisor on all specific donations. In general, there are two types of vehicle donations. The first is a donated home that will be used to assist in housing the homeless. With a “blue book” value of $5,000 or greater, an IRS Form 8283 certified appraisal will need to be completed. You may wish to do this, or we have an RV appraiser. If the “blue book” value is under $5,000 you will be issued a 1099 MISC. The second type of vehicle donation is one that we intend to sell and use the proceeds to support our Community First! Program. If we determine the RV is not a good fit for our program but has a cash value, then we will sell it. You would be issued a 1099 MISC form based on the proceeds of the sale.
Q: Who will give me the appraisal?
You may secure your own appraisal and require them to complete IRS Form 8283. Should you wish for Mobile Loaves & Fishes to secure the appraisal, all the title transfer paperwork must be completed first. You will need to have a clear title and endorse it to Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and complete both the Application for Texas Certificate of Title and Affidavit of Motor Vehicle Gift Transfer (will need a notary) forms. Mobile Loaves & Fishes is happy to assist you with completing the paperwork.
Q: When/how do you pick up my RV?
Once we have had a chance to review the specifics of the RV and determined our interest, we will make arrangements to complete all the necessary paperwork. You will need to have a clear title and endorse it to Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and complete both the Application for Texas Certificate of Title and Affidavit of Motor Vehicle Gift Transfer (will need a notary) forms. Mobile Loaves & Fishes is happy to assist you with completing the paperwork. Once the paperwork is complete, we can schedule someone to pick up the RV as soon as possible, but usually within 10 days.
Q: Can I just donate cash to the Community First! Program of Mobile Loaves & Fishes?
Absolutely! We will gratefully use the funds to purchase gently used RVs and for repairs of our existing homes.
Q: Can I donate the money for the Canvas Cottage or Micro Home if I don’t have a 5th wheel or mobile home?
Yes, currently the cost of the Canvas Cottage is approx. $3,500 and the Micro Home is approx. $7,500.
